Shoreline Solar Project is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing renewable energy projects and education to our community.

We organize an annual Renewable Energy and Sustainable Living Fair called SolarFest.

The 2009 SolarFest has come and gone. It was a great year with many new accomplishments.

Friday night at the Kick Off our guest presenter, Chris Jordan, was the highlight. In an easy going, storytelling manner complete with a slide show of his compelling photographs, he tells the story of his journey from corporate lawyer to artist to cultural activist.

Saturday on Fair Day the weather was perfect. 70 exhibitors settled in for a full day.  After a rousing opening with the school fire alarm went off (dust or a bug in the detector) the musicians played on the Showmobile stage and visitors arrived.

Soon the Kid Zone got into full swing, with educational classes and solar kits (motor, propeller and solar cell) given to kids to challenge them to make something that moves (with solar power of course).  The RE Store was a great partner in this activity providing the “stuff” to make cool models out of recycled materials.

Speakers gave interesting and relevant talks throughout the day in two rooms.

Wallingford Meaningful Movies hosted the First Annual Solar Powered Film Festival in the music room the site of Shoreline’s first public photovoltaic installation.

Shoreline Solar Project is a volunteer organization that seeks to continuously improve our offerings.
